ABOUT THE PROJECT
The idea and functional demands were defined by the highly skilled physicians and therapists of the orthopaedic department. They are working daily with these kinds of challenges. A two-year study has been conducted using a prototype. The study shows that the use of an ankle trainer has a significant impact on the restitution process of the patient, as well as reducing the number of bed days.
Especially Jan Hellesnes has been an enthusiastic driving force behind this project, but also Lars Nordsletten at OUS and Bjarne Tvete at Invent2 has taken great interest in the project.
The task for HUGG is to design and manufacture a fully functioning product, that allows for low-cost production, being easy to use for the patients as well satisfying all practical and regulatory requirements for medical equipment.
